Is Colour Analysis Worth It? What Happens in a Melbourne Session?

You've probably seen colour analysis pop up on your feed. Maybe a friend mentioned it, or you've watched a few videos and thought, "that looks interesting, but is it actually worth it, or is it just another thing people do for content?"

It's a fair question, and one I get asked constantly, usually by women who are genuinely curious but want to know what they're actually paying for before they book anything. So let's take the mystery out of it. Here's exactly what a colour analysis session looks like, and why it tends to be one of those things people wish they'd done years earlier.

What Colour Analysis Actually Is

At its simplest, colour analysis is the process of working out which colours genuinely flatter you, based on your natural undertone, depth and contrast, rather than what's trending or what you've always defaulted to.

Most women who come to see me have been wearing a lot of black for years. Not because black is "their colour," but because it feels safe. It's easy, it goes with everything, and it doesn't require a decision. The problem is, safe isn't the same as flattering, and a lot of women end up feeling a bit invisible in the very colour they chose to feel put together.

A proper analysis shows you the colours that make your skin glow, your eyes stand out and your whole face look brighter, awake and healthier, along with the ones that quietly work against you.

What Happens in an Actual Session -Is Colour Analysis Worth It?

Here's what a session with me looks like, step by step, so there's no mystery left:

We start with a chat. Before any draping happens, we talk about how you're feeling in your wardrobe right now, what's not working, and what you want to feel like when you get dressed. This part matters more than people expect.

Then comes the draping. I hold a series of fabric drapes up against your face, one after another, in natural light. You'll actually see your own face change in real time as different colours go past. Some will lift you; you'll look brighter and more awake almost instantly. Others will do the opposite, and it's usually obvious the moment it happens.

We map your palette. From there we identify your undertone, depth and intensity, and land on your personal palette, the specific range of colours that consistently work in your favour.

You leave with something practical. You get a physical palette to take shopping with you, so you're never standing in a shop unsure whether something's "you" or not.

It's genuinely one of those experiences where you can see and feel the difference in the mirror, not just hear about it in theory.

Why Melbourne Women Are Booking This Right Now

If you're in Melbourne and weighing this up, you're in good company. This isn't a niche thing anymore. Women across Doreen (where I am!) and the wider Melbourne suburbs are booking sessions during exactly the kind of life moments that make you reassess how you're showing up: a return to work, a relationship change, kids growing up and moving out, or simply hitting a point where you look in the wardrobe and think, "none of this feels like me anymore."

That feeling isn't a clothing problem. It's usually a colour and identity problem wearing a clothing disguise. Colour analysis is often the fastest, clearest way to address it, because the result is immediate and visible. You don't have to imagine the difference, you see it on your own face in the same appointment. So let's get back to the question..Is Colour Analysis Worth It? So far , yes!

So, Is It Worth It?

Think about how much time and money gets spent on clothes that never quite make it out of the wardrobe. The op-shop bag of "seemed like a good idea at the time" pieces. The scroll through your closet every morning, feeling like there's nothing to wear despite it being full.

A colour analysis session solves that at the root. Once you know your palette, shopping gets faster, getting dressed gets easier, and the compliments start rolling in, not because you spent more, but because you're finally spending on the right things.

For most women, it pays for itself within the first shopping trip they do afterwards, simply by avoiding the "seemed right in the shop, wrong at home" purchases they used to make.

Ready to See It for Yourself?

If you're local to Doreen & surrounding suburbs and ready to stop guessing, you can book a full in-studio colour analysis session with me here in Doreen, or start with a Colour Snapshot if you want a taste of the process online first, with the cost credited straight toward your full session.
