Have you ever stood in front of your wardrobe, feeling like none of your clothes quite spark joy anymore? Or maybe you’ve noticed that some colours just don’t seem to suit you like they used to. If that sounds familiar, you’re not alone. That was me, and exactly whay I started My Colour and Style. Many women find themselves at a crossroads with their style, especially during times of change. That’s where colour analysis comes in—a fun, insightful way to rediscover your best colours and bring fresh confidence to your wardrobe.
Let’s dive into what colour analysis is all about, why it’s so popular here in Melbourne & all over the world (and the online space) and how it can help you feel more like you again.
What is Colour Analysis?
Colour Analysis is like a personal colour map tailored just for you. It’s a method that categorises your natural colouring—your skin undertone tone and hair colour—into one of the 18 Absolute Colour Palettes . Each palette of colour harmonise beautifully with your natural features, making your skin glow, your eyes pop, and your overall look more vibrant.
Think of it as nature’s way of telling you which colours are your best friends. When you wear these colours, you’ll notice:
Your complexion looks healthier and more radiant
You appear more awake and refreshed
Your features are enhanced, not overshadowed
For example, if you’re a cool undertone, dark hair you might shine in cool, bold colours like icy blues and crisp whites. If your warm and dark, warm, earthy tones like burnt orange and olive green could be your go-to.
Colour Analysis isn’t about trends or fads. It’s about you—your unique colouring and how to make it work for you every day.

Why Colour Analysis is Popular in Melbourne
Melbourne is a city known for its vibrant culture, ever-changing weather, and diverse population. It’s no surprise that many Melburnians are curious about how Colour Analysis can help them navigate their style in a city that’s always on the move... and typically 4 seasons in one day!
Here’s why it’s catching on:
Changing Seasons, Changing You: Melbourne’s weather can be unpredictable, swinging from sunny to chilly in a heartbeat. Colour Analysis helps you pick colours that work well in any season, keeping your wardrobe versatile and weather-appropriate. Because it will always go with YOU.
Lifestyle Transitions: Many women are experiencing shifts—whether it’s a new career, lifestyle changes, or embracing a new chapter in life. Colour Analysis offers clarity and confidence during these transitions.
Simplicity and Sustainability: With a clear colour palette, shopping becomes easier and more intentional. You buy fewer clothes but love everything you own. This approach fits perfectly with Melbourne’s growing love for sustainable fashion.
Personalised Experience: Melbourne’s style scene values individuality. Colour Analysis is a personalised journey, not a one-size-fits-all solution.
Is a Colour Analysis Worth the Money?
Now, I know what you might be thinking: “Is this really worth the investment?” After all, spending money on a Colour Analysis might feel like a luxury when you could just pick colours you like off the rack.
Here’s the thing—Colour Analysis is an investment in yourself. It’s about saving money in the long run by avoiding costly fashion mistakes and building a wardrobe that truly suits you. Here’s why it’s worth every penny:

How Does Colour Analysis Work?
Curious about what actually happens during a Colour Analysis? Let me walk you through the typical process so you know what to expect.
Step 1: Consultation
I'll chat to you about your hair colour, colours that you wear and how you feel, what you're hoping to get out of session.
Step 2: Colour Draping
This is the fun part! I will inisytally drape you on cool or warm to discover your undertone, then based on your hair colour will be choosing the lighter drapes or darker drapes. Howver of hair colour is undecided lets pin the hair back and start with a blank canvas and pain the picture as we drape. You will notice how the different coloured fabrics interact with your skin, eyes, and hair. I look for colours that make you glow versus those that might wash you out.
Step 3: Determining Your Palette
Based on the draping, I will identify your perfect palette. Sometimes, it’s straightforward, but other times, you might be a blend of two palettes, which is perfectly normal. So let's look at both.
Step 4: Palette Presentation
You’ll receive a personalised colour palette, 50 colour swatche & a digital palette, along with a booklet on how this all works! This palette is your new best friend for shopping and styling.
Step 5: Style and Wardrobe Tips
I offer advice on how to incorporate your colours into your existing wardrobe, what to avoid, and how to mix and match for maximum impact.
Step 6: Follow-Up
If you get home and you are now 'stuck'. You can also add a Wardrobe Audit, Personal Styling and Personal Shopping...
The whole process is designed to be enjoyable, empowering, and enlightening. You’ll walk away with a fresh perspective on your style and a clear roadmap for your wardrobe.
Bringing Colour Analysis Into Your Everyday Life
So, you’ve got your palette—now what? How do you make this work for you day-to-day without feeling overwhelmed?
Here are some practical tips:
Start Small: Incorporate your best colours through accessories like scarves, jewellery, or handbags. It’s an easy way to test the waters.
Wardrobe Audit: Pull out clothes that don’t fit your palette and consider donating or selling them. This clears space for pieces that truly suit you.
Shop with Purpose: When you shop, stick to your palette. This helps you build a cohesive wardrobe where everything works together.
Mix and Match: Use your palette to create outfits that are versatile and flattering. Don’t be afraid to experiment within your colour family.
Makeup and Hair: Your palette can guide your makeup choices too. For example, certain lip colours or eyeshadows will enhance your natural beauty.
Updates: As your life changes, your palette might evolve. It’s okay to revisit your analysis every few years.
Remember, this is about you feeling comfortable and confident. Your palette is a tool, not a rulebook.
Colour Analysis is more than just a style trick—it’s a journey back to yourself. It’s about embracing who you are now and celebrating your unique beauty with colours that lift you up. If you’re ready to refresh your wardrobe and your confidence, why not explore what a personalised colour analysis can do for you?
After all, life’s too short to wear colours that don’t make you shine.
Happy colouring!
